Who We Are

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee advises the faith leaders, identifying and researching issues,  gathering resources, and drafting statements for review and approval.  Voting membership is limited to representatives appointed by faith leaders, but meetings are open to any interested individual, organization, congregation or faith community.  Steering Committee members work closely with state/local affiliates and resource groups.  The AFC Work Groups are subcommittees comprised of steering committee members, affiliates, and resource persons from around the state.

 

The Steering Committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the offices of Greater Birmingham Ministries.

Faith Leaders Council

The Faith Leaders Council is composed of clergy representatives from faith communities around the state that support the purpose and principles of the AFC.

· Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship of Alabama

· Greek Orthodox, Holy Trinity/Holy Cross Cathedral

· Masjidul Qur’an, Birmingham

· Reform Judaism, Temple Emanu-El, Birmingham

· Presbyterian Church (USA), Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley

· Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmingham

· United Church of Christ, Beloved Community Church, Birmingham

· United Methodist Church, North Alabama Conference

Local/State Affiliates and Resource Groups

Any local faith community, clergy group, social action committee, class, interfaith group, social service provider or advocacy agency can affiliate with the AFC to advise the Steering Committee on issues of concern, especially in their specific areas of focus and experience.
